Thursday Throw out

Hello all!! Well I am back on nights at the old day job, so it took me some time to remember to post this tonight. No updates working on edits and have sepnt a little time on Captured...so Short and weet here is something from that project. Captured   “Are you decent?” Detective Quinn asks, hesitating in the doorway to my room. I look up from the book I borrowed from the floors waiting room and smile. “Yeah, I am sorry about earlier. I am usually not that jumpy.” I feel my cheeks heat as a Cheshire grin spreads across his face. “It’s ok. I would be jumpy too if I had been through what you have.” He steps into the room but does not come too close. I look him up and down. He has his aviator glasses on, and light colored jeans with a dark V-neck tee that looks painted onto his chest .I can see a sharp black spike of a tattoo poking out of the shirt on his neckline.   He looks a lot more like a MMA fighter than a he does a cop. “What can I help you with?” I ...

Snowday Throwout!!

Happy snow day to all who are in the great white north! To those that aren't, well my apologies, we were hit with about a foot of snow yesterday. I ended up having to stay at my mothers house, without access to my MS word or an Internet connection. Hence the delay. Gotta love Minnesota! Well a few days ago, a facebook friend of mine posted some meme about no good stories starting with a salad. Well I accepted that challenge and started yet another project. I have been working on a concept about five high school friends who go on one last girls vacation. So... this gave me a catalyst to use in the beginning of my new book. I will not be pushing this concept as much as the others. I feel in order to write this with the quality I want to, I will need to let it come to me organically. Edits, Edits, Edits.....This is my mantra. I have two completed projects that are basically laughing in my face right now. I wish i did not work so much, but i have to pay the bills. Here's to hop...

Thursday Throwout!!

Welcome to annother addition of the Thursday Throwout!! My name is Star Kava, and I will be this evenings host :). I have been gearing up for a submission (hopefully) to the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest. (link below). So this week I have been knee deep in edits and composing. I cant even begin to describe how much I want this. Not necessarily the contest, because in general I never win anything. I just want to be able to do something I enjoy WITHOUT driving an hour or longer to do it.                  I had mixed responses from my survey from last week. It was pretty close but option b came out on top. I apreciate the feedback from everyone.  I apologuise that the pieces were not better edited. This was pointed out a couple of times. But, like all of the excerpts I post, they were rough draft quality. If anyo...

With a little help from my friends Thursday throw out

So I was given a some constructive criticism from a beta who's opinion I value greatly. She was not a fan of my original prologue for one of my books. I redid it with the suggestions she gave me. After several drafts, trying out different concepts, I finally had something I thought was acceptable. Unfortunately, I am still in love with my first idea. This is where you come in! Tonight I am posting both prologues for said book. I want to put it to a vote. If you could please read both versions posted below. Then, either leave the coinciding letter in the comments below or on the Facebook post that brought you to this page. You may also leave any comments or critique you may have below. The comments are not published unless I approve them, so if you would rather them not be visible please specify. Here We GO!!!!!
