Snowday Throwout!!
Happy snow day to all who are in the great white north! To those that aren't, well my apologies, we were hit with about a foot of snow yesterday. I ended up having to stay at my mothers house, without access to my MS word or an Internet connection. Hence the delay. Gotta love Minnesota!
Well a few days ago, a facebook friend of mine posted some meme about no good stories starting with a salad. Well I accepted that challenge and started yet another project. I have been working on a concept about five high school friends who go on one last girls vacation. So... this gave me a catalyst to use in the beginning of my new book. I will not be pushing this concept as much as the others. I feel in order to write this with the quality I want to, I will need to let it come to me organically.
Edits, Edits, Edits.....This is my mantra. I have two completed projects that are basically laughing in my face right now. I wish i did not work so much, but i have to pay the bills. Here's to hoping my betas and I can get through these darn edits and I can get these out to you, my readers, before you jump ship on me!
On to the teaser!!

The Last Hurrah of Those Girls
I am pretty sure this is the worst
fifteen dollar salad I have ever eaten. Nothing like eating a crappy, wilted,
airport side salad while I wait FOREVER for my flight. I have been stranded for
ten hours at MSP International. Riding out a blizzard, which has dumped more
snow than Minneapolis has seen in twenty years. I briefly considered taking the
light rail back to my house. Unfortunately, the storm has shut that option down
as well.
Attention
travelers, the TSA and maintenance crews have started to clear the runways. We
apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. All flights should resume
within the hour. Thank you for traveling with us.
A resounding cheer fills the food
court as the announcement ends. With a sigh, I toss my fork into the clam shell
container with the remnants of my supper. After depositing my trash in the
receptacle, I wheel my bright pink carry on toward the gate.
It’s been ten years since my group
of girlfriends has gone on a vacation together. The last trip ended up with two of us getting
pregnant , and half of us not speaking for a month. We look back at our trip to
Bonaroo now and laugh. We were in our twenties and fearless. We weren’t concerned about our bank accounts,
or our jobs. We didn’t have to account
for our children, nor justify the expense to our husbands. We were carefree,
young, beautiful, and had our whole lives ahead of us.
Flight
919 to Las Vegas will now be boarding at gate 22. Thank you for choosing Sun Country .
I look around and notice that there
are all of fifteen people in the waiting area. Approaching the flight attendant,
I hand over my ticket for her to scan. She smiles and hands back my ticket.
“All of the tickets have been
upgraded to first class.” She says before handing me an updated boarding pass.
Lovely, judging by the amount of people
here, I may have an entire row to myself. Missing a day in Vegas with my girls
will be a little less annoying after having a first class meal, free drinks,
and leg room. My other two friends who still live in the area left two days
ago. I would have been with them, but I was unable to get off work. As it
stands I will get one night in the city of sin before we board our flight to Jamaica.
Maybe if I get some sleep, we can go to
a club when I get there.
