Solace in Writing Throwout
Have you ever just known you were meant to do something? There are three things that I feel completely peaceful while I am doing them, writing, dancing, and cooking. While I hold out hope, one day I will be known for my words, I am completely ok with just being the girl that bleeds on paper. This week I bleed. They say you are not an author until you publish..Well, then I guess I am just a girl, with a story in her heart.
Relentless Heart
I stomp up to the house with my clutch in hand. Marcus is hot on my heels, fuming with anger. When I saw the confusion and disappointment in Ty's eyes as he got into his car and sped off, I stopped hearing the venom he was spewing at me. Instead I just wanted to get away form the man who destroyed me so thoroughly that until I met Ty I couldn't even think of being with a man again. I lurch to a stop at the threshold, a large hand painfully gripping my upper arm. Whipping around to meet him, I am unafraid of what might accompany his rage. He almost killed me once, if this is going to come to blows, I would rather it be here where others can see.
"Did you hear me Bitch?" Marcus leans over so his hot breath pollutes the air in front of my face. "You will not bring my child around that tattooed felon. If you do, I will make you pay. Don't think for a second I can't call in some favors and have my child removed from your custody." Marcus seethes in front of me, his chest rising and falling heavily. he is using his size and presence to try to scare me. It's not working, not this time.
"You don't even know him, Marcus." I growl through gritted teeth. A menacing smirk breaks across his face as he stares me down.
"I know more than you think, whore." His grip on my arm is punishing so I take a step back trying to wrench myself free. Instead he yanks me back toward him, gripping me tighter. "You are mine, do you understand that? MINE. As long as there is breath in my lungs you will never be with another."
"I stopped being yours the second you laid hands on me, you son of a bitch. Don't think for a second there will ever be anything between us again. I hate you. I hate you with every fiber of my being. You destroyed anything that ever existed between us the day raised a fist and broke my trust. Now get your sorry, sad, worthless ass off my lawn before I turn you in for violating my restraining order. I should throw you in jail for even being here, for going in my house, for coming near my child. You have no business being here. I did nothing wrong except go out with my friends. Even that has nothing to do with you. I wasn't missing. Scarlett didn't even call to find out where I was or I would have come home. I have no clue why you are here right now, but if you and your buddies are not gone in five minutes, I will call the precinct who's jurisdiction I actually live in, and have you hauled out of here." I square my shoulders, not allowing the fear that is trying to seep in, take hold.
"You might think you have power over me, you fucking cunt, but you have nothing. I can make you disappear, just like I did the charges against me. That walking bicep of yours, he is less that the dog shit on my shoe. I can make him go away just as easily. So unless you do as I say, you better warn lover boy to watch his back." The psychotic glint in Marcus's eye tells me everything I need to know about his intentions. My body goes rigid, knowing he is not only capable, but would happily follow through with his threat.
"Momma?" Scarlett's sweet voice causes Marcus to back away and plaster a equally crazed smile on his face. He shoots me a warning look as he turns toward our daughter, dropping to one knee and spreading his arms wide. She looks between us, pausing for a second, before squealing and jumping into his arms. "Daddy, did you talk to mom? Are we going to be a family again?" My stomach bottoms out, knowing this is not the first time he has been near her. He wasn't lying, he can hurt me.
Marcus locks eyes with me, smiling sinisterly, knowing I caught on that he has been seeing her without my permission. "Soon baby. Your mom just needs a little more time." He kisses her on the side of the head, never breaking eye contact.
