“Oh hey Jax” Acknowledging him for the first time. Storm pales and parts her fingers to peek at
Jax who is trying to stifle a grin.
“I didn’t think I could see you blush any harder, but you
are almost purple right now.” Jax’s blue eyes twinkle as he smiles warmly at
her. If I didn’t know better I would say he is just as enamored with her as she
is him. Interesting.
“Oh fuck just kill me now.” Storm mumbles from behind her hands.
With a loud huff she drops her arms, crossing them over her chest, glaring at me. I know she loves me, but right
now she is plotting my murder.
“Well you too have fun. I have a meeting to attend with a
potential client. Storm I had an extra key to the suite made, hang out the DND
sign if you want privacy.” I wink at her and make my way to the exit. When
Storm’s eyes widen in realization, I know she understands my motive. Maybe if I
can just get this girl laid she wouldn’t such a Debbie Downer all the time.
Storm excuses herself and follows me out of the venue. I brace myself waiting for her to shove me,
but she doesn’t . Once the doors shut behind us she keeps walking so I keep
stride next to her. A fountain in the
lobby stops her procession, as she whirls and sits on the edge.
“You don’t have a meeting do you?” She looks at me grumpily.
I can’t help but smile back at her.
“I can’t lie to you can I. No, I just wanted you to enjoy
some time with that beast of a man. He sure is a feast for the eyes.” Trying to look as contrite as possible, I
scan her face. Storm has never been this angary with me. I mean, I made her
mold her “lady bits” and mercilessly flirted with the artist. Surely that has
to be worse than what just went on.
“I love the crap out of you friend, but you can’t keep doing
that.”
“Doing what?”
“Throwing me into uncomfortable situations, and expecting me
to magically turn into you.”
I regard her once more. She almost looks like a kicked puppy
as she speaks. She is hurt but still wants me to love her. How could I not love
this girl. The simple fact that she wears her heart on her sleeve is enough to
make anyone want to be in her life. Suddenly, I feel horrible for placing her
in an awkward position. However, I know that she can be the girl she puts on
paper, if she would just stop hiding behind her insecurity. Tough love seems to be the only answer to this
problem.
“Look, Storm. You are one of the few people I let close to
me because I know you truly love me. No
matter how badass you claim to be, the whole world can see that you are a good
person. You fight for those who are less fortunate, and always protect the
little guys. This is what makes you who you are. Your beauty is in your soul,
and in your case, your soul is visible on the outside. Stop telling yourself
you are not good enough. Let loose and enjoy your life. People want to be around
you. JAX wants to be around you. “ I motion toward the convention hall we were
just in to show her he is hovering by the door looking concerned. “If you would
just take a minute to look around, you would see that people gravitate to you. Leave
they bad ass bitch M.O. to me, I have it handled. You just try to enjoy
yourself.” Nodding toward Jax, who is tentatively approaching, I pop a kiss on
her head. “I have to go meet that client. (wink) I will see you later for
drinks.”
Storm stands and hugs me, whispering in my ear. “Thank you,
for everything.”
Turning away I throw a hand up and shout. “I will text you
later bitch, go buy a dress, we are going clubbing.” Not waiting for an argument I round the
corner to the lobby.
