Lyrical Tribute Throwout
Have you ever fed a lover with just your hands?
Closed your eyes and trusted, just trusted?
Have you ever thrown a fistful of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face and said, "I just don't care."?
(PiNk--Glitter in the Air)
Words are my life.
A sweet release that soothes the pains in my soul.
What's more, words are the life blood of every writer, and music is the pulse.
One good thing about music, when it hits you (you feel no pain)
Oh, oh, I say, one good thing about music, when it hits you (you feel no pain)
Hit me with music, hit me with music now
(Trench town Rock--Bob Marley)
I dare you to think of a time when you were listening to music and the lyrics and melodies spoke to you. The sounds of the rhythm coat you, as the words translate into your own mantra. Whether it be heavy and pounding beats, or soft and melodic tones at that moment the song in question is exactly what you need. You feel encased by the arms of a lover, or soothed by the warmth of a friend. Maybe the tune rips out your heart and makes you relive painful memories, or holds your hand as you remember a past loved one.
I know you are now thinking of such a situation. Maybe it is a daily occurrence, a helpful push to get you through the motions. Possibly you turn to music when you have lost all hope and nothing else will heal your wounds.
I won't suffer, be broken, get tired, or wasted
Surrender to nothing, or give up what I
Started and stopped it, from end to beginning
A new day is coming, and I am finally free
(Attack--Thirty Seconds To Mars)
If you are here you already know of my proclivity to rub my soul all over the paper at hand. Well, this post is no different.
As I strive daily to pen a phrase that will possibly touch another persons heart, I rely on music to guide my hand. For, as I immerse myself in the dulcet tones of the music I love I resurface in a battle scene:
Can you see my scars?
Can you feel my heart?
This is all of me for all of the world to see
(Scars--Boy Epic)
In a passionate argument:
No matter how many deaths that I die I will never forget
No matter how many lives I live I will never regret
There is a fire inside of this heart and a riot about to explode into flames
Where is your God
Where is your God
Where is your God
(Hurricane- Thirty Seconds To Mars)
Dancing with a lover:
And if you said this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood
Because you're so smooth
(Smooth- Rob Thomas/Santana)
There are so many scenes to be set. So many possibilities. I stand in awe of the fact that the combination of music and words can evoke such a response in the human brain. A response that is unique to the listener and the artist alike. The mere suggestion of a melody behind an action can force your brain to picture the suggested material.
So as I sit here, fretting over my feeble words, I shuffle through my music library. In the moment I finally find the perfect song to force my soul through my fingers, I place it on repeat and just live it.
Live it vicariously, live it within my heart and mind, live it within my dreams.
Music is a gift to the soul of the artist. I truly believe that there would be no art without it. Go fourth friends, and live the song of your own lives, it will never judge you, it will always love you, and I have no doubt, it will guide you.
I wanna rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then magnificently we will float
Into the mystic
(Into The Mystic--Van Morrison)
Until next week XOXO

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
