Thursday Throw out!!

Hi all,
Another weekly throw out for you here. This is something I was working on for one of my WIP. I have read it several times, and am not happy with it. I will likely end up scrapping the whole thing, but, at least someone else's eyes before that happens.

Detour

I awoke to an arm stretching over me. The warm muscular body of Rayce blankets me in warmth and surrounds me with a smell, as unique as the man it emanates from. I nuzzle into his chest and draw in a deep breath. I can taste him on my tongue, slightly musky and salty. All male. I gently ease out from under his arm. Rayce doesn’t stir, but lets out a sigh, seemingly in protest of my absence. I study his beautiful face, noting his angular features seem to soften as he sleeps. My stomach turns at what I am about to do.

Dressing quickly I pad to the bathroom in bare feet.  Turning the knobs for the shower, I close the curtain and slip back out of the bathroom down the stairs of the loft. I hope that my little ruse will buy me some time. Pausing briefly next to the Challenger, I lift the wiper blade and slide the letter I finished earlier today underneath it. Stepping through the  barn access door I jump behind the wheel of the Jeep.  She turns over quietly and I quickly make my way off the ranch. I don’t look back, I can’t.

Rayce,

Well, I am sure you have already figured out I am gone. I want to thank you for fixing my Jeep for me. Even though you wouldn’t let me pay, I put $500 in the envelope. It is the least I can do for all the care and hospitality you and Maddie have shown me.

I am not going to say I am sorry for leaving the way I did. I know I am just another notch for you, and I fear that if I stay, you will realize that sooner than later. I just need you to understand, I cannot go through that again.

       Have a good life Rayce.
