Tis the Thursday Throwout!!

Welcome back!!

Once again with the edits! I have fallen asleep twice this week with my laptop open on my lap and mouse in hand. If anyone ever tells you its easy to change the tense of an entire book, it's not!! I only have five more chapters to go though so, there is an end in sight! I hope you are as eager for the re-release as I am!.

I have gone into creativity hibernation lately, staring at blank pages endlessly, before giving up and going back to edits. I keep telling myself that I need to get that one done, and then I will have time to focus on writing. Unfortunately, I have to edit an entire second novel after that is done so..who knows. Hopefully my brain will thaw  before I loose all sense of direction....hopefully.

Any hoo, I am bringing you a piece from captured today. You may remember this as the book about the girl who was kidnapped. It has been a while since we have touched on this book. I presented the Prologue to you on 10/25/13 if you would like to look into my archives. I believe it is a good story so far :) hopefully you agree!! well on to the teaser!!

Captured

“When is the funeral?” I ask, hoping I will be able to get back in time.

Jamie stares at his feet. “The hospital had one for both of you a month ago, after they found your car at the bottom of a ravine, burned beyond recognition. They set up a memorial in your name for orphaned children. I thought that telling them your story was appropriate under the circumstances.” He looks at me contritely. “I am just going to have her cremated so we can bury her under her headstone in  Allegheny Cemetery, next to your plot. The hospital paid for the memorial stones.”

I draw a ragged breath, finally feeling the weight of the circumstances. For the past week I had just been happy to be alive, knowing now that everyone thinks I am dead, my emotions are getting the best of me. I walk back to the bed and sit on the edge, not allowing myself to faint. Jami fidgets nervously in the door as I breathe deeply to calm myself.

“I have to catch the next plane back to PA,” Jami stammers, “I will leave my number at the desk with the nurse if you need anything. Sorry Tatum.”

I hear him turn and walk back down the hall. I reach for the examination curtain and pull it around my bed. Lying down, I cover my head with my pillow, and finally let myself give in to the loss that I have suffered. The fact that Sara was going to be officially buried solidified that all of this really happened. Alone and listless, I cry myself to sleep.
