THURSDAY THROW OUT

Welcome back, yet again, to another addition of the Thursday throw out!

 This week has been hectic. School starts Tuesday, so we are in full prep mode at my house. Bagging up old cloths, gearing up for school shopping this weekend.

 I have been making headway on my edits and hope to be done soon...I know you have heard that before, but I have two jobs and a 9 year old so things take time for me. This week I am bringing you a piece from Scarred My second work that I now have in the proof reading stage with a friend.

I love this story, basically because I wrote about the life I always imagined for myself, aside from the rich family. I hope that everyone will fall as madly in love with the characters as I have. But knowing that it is a series of at least two books and I have the attention span of a ferret you may see a few other books before its sequel is done. Just like Muse, which I am planning three books and two novellas for I have the second book started...right along about four others.....what can I say I am ambitious with the five seconds of free time I have daily!

Scarred


Around one a.m. the guys want to call it a night. I had almost two hours of water and nachos under my belt and was starting to feel weary myself. I excused myself to the restroom before we left and pushed my way through the crowd to the back of the bar. The restrooms were at the end of a rather long hallway right next to the emergency exit. The only light is the blue glow from the bar and the exit sign over the door. I quicken my pace, feeling suddenly uneasy alone in the dark corridor.

“Hello Israel,” A deep baritone voice booms from behind me.

Fuck, fuck, fuck! Run! My brain screams. I cover the last few steps to the restroom door in less than a second and push open the door flooding the hall with bright fluorescent light. I glance backward before bounding through the door.

About three yards behind me is Brayden Dayton, looking shocked and amused at my sudden attempt to flee. I peeked around the door frame staying safe within the light of the bathroom.  The corner of his mouth twitches and I can tell he is fighting the urge to laugh at me.

“Do you mind?” I snipe “I need to use the restroom.”

“Be my guest,” he says flourishing toward the door with a grin. I catch a hint of a dimple in his chin.

I half slam the door, disappointed when there is no lock. I choose a stall and shut the door jamming the feminine napkin wastebasket up against it as I secure the feeble latch. I hear the door open and close and footsteps start to approach the stalls. I dig violently through my purse for my phone and finally find it in the bottom.

“Come any closer and I will call the cops!” I yell. “I have a gun, but I don’t want to use it, so just get out of here!” My voice shakes and I do not even believe myself.

“You need help sweetie.” A birdlike voice states and I hear her retreat.

Just fuck!

A word of advice. Never become a writer. Why? Well, I will tell you. Eventually, you start to believe your own bullshit.  Delude yourself into seeing things that aren't there. You are convinced at first that situations are innocent, then your friends say they are not, and you believe them. Just trust your instincts. Fairy tales are just that. Never going to happen. With a little help from my friends Thursday throw out

So I was given a some constructive criticism from a beta who's opinion I value greatly. She was not a fan of my original prologue for one of my books. I redid it with the suggestions she gave me. After several drafts, trying out different concepts, I finally had something I thought was acceptable. Unfortunately, I am still in love with my first idea. This is where you come in! Tonight I am posting both prologues for said book. I want to put it to a vote. If you could please read both versions posted below. Every picture tells a story

So I have had time to process the suggestions given by my Beta and I have now organized them in such a way the my brain can process. 1. revamp prologue it sucks..well at least reword and add to it 2. Decide weather or not you want to take out things that personalize it to me...how much of myself do i want to leave on paper. 3. re-evaluate the refrences 4. it needs more muchness 5. suck it up..you can do this So here I sit staring at the picture that my daughter drew me, the back of which, where the first words of muse were laid out on paper.  It took me only a few seconds for this picture to inspire my story. Maybe if i stare at it long enough it will tell me how to proceed.
